Let’s not get ahead of ourselves though. The game itself is not dubbed. Although many of us would like it to be dubbed doesn’t make it so. Many of you already know that “Anime” is originally created in Japan, later getting to America in dubbed voices (Japanese voice audio replaced with English voice audio).
There’s also lots of people that prefer it in it’s original form factor only with English subtitles (subbed) instead, which is what this game (unfortunately for some) is in. Which is better though? It seems most of America prefers Dubbed Anime voices, but only a few in America like it how it is. Is it out of respect for the original Japanese voice actors? Or is it just a favorite and/or preference to these people?
One thing is for sure… This game will never be Dubbed by Bandai Namco (the publisher). Bandai has made several Anime video games in the past that were Dubbed, but it’s a whole different story when including several characters from several different Animes at once. Example, almost all Dragon Ball games are Dubbed.
However, including the likes of Anime like Yu Yu Hakusho, Naruto, Dragon Ball, Death Note, Bleach, One Piece, City Hunter, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, My Hero Academia, Hunter X Hunter, Fist of The North Star, Rurouni Kenshin, Saint Seiya and Yu-Gi-Oh?
It would be almost difficult (no, impossible) to put ALL of that Anime into Dub due to licensing issues. Think of it this way: Having only some Dubbed and some not would result in a terrible sounding game. 1 character would speak Japanese and the other would speak English. They might not even understand what they’re saying to each other! This is vital to especially the intros and outros where characters talk to each other before and after a match against one another.
The gameplay itself is actually similar to the game J-Stars Victory Vs+ if you’ve ever played that game. The only differences to these two games is the fact that Jump Force is more fluid in movement, levels are somewhat more open (can’t jump on buildings mid-match like in J-Stars) and some characters are actually taken out from J-Stars in this new release of Jump Force. Example: Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho was in J-Stars as a playable character, but he isn’t in Jump Force at all. Gameplay mechanics are literally the same somewhat. I do feel like Jump Force’s ability to maneuver characters is better than J-Stars. In J-Stars, the movements feels sluggish at time, whereas in Jump Force, it’s much easier to dodge and move. That’s just my opinion though!
